Weekly Four: week 37

Monday, September 20, 2010 by Tse Moana 5 Comments

I’m grateful for warm clothes and lights and other things that keep the winter cold and darkness at bay.

I’m happpy I got lots of socks on sale 😀

I am annoyed with my life in general right now, too much inertia, not enough movement, both internal as well as external. Part of this is the winter coming on, I don’t like that it’s still dark when I get up, and gets dark so soon in the evening too. It gets me down.

I learned my first weight loss milestone is almost here.

It’s really fascinating to see which of these points I struggle most with each week, in terms of thinking of something to write down. Normally I have most the issue coming up with something I was angry or sad about, or that annoyed me. While today, and last week in a lesser way, the negative emotional trigger/response was much more clear, and I’m having trouble with the positive things. It’ll right itself in due time, getting used to the darkness is half the battle.

Eva, especially for you!

Overview of the burns, they’re not that big, the top one is the biggest and its about a cm at the longest.

The smaller pics below, the top one shows the biggest burn, on my arm (ignore the stripe, it’s an impression my sweater made). It’s a bit bubbly, and feels funny 😀

The middle one has the dual burns on my arm, just two small spots.

The bottom one shows the burn on my hand, second biggest in size, about 7mm or so 😀

Weekly Four: week 35

I’m grateful for the warm winter socks my mom knitted for me.

I’m happy I finally managed to get the final point from 399 to 400 in leveling my unarmed weapon skill in WoW. It took ages!

I was annoyed/in a bad mood earlier this week, but that was more a result of general tiredness and a headache.

I learned good friends make for great conversations. And colleagues can do too. Had a very interesting chat at work this week about FTM transgender people’s transition proces, and ‘how it works’, and a follow-up chat about, among other things, gender with aforementioned friends.

Organise, Organise, Organise

Sunday, July 18, 2010 by Tse Moana 4 Comments

Spent the day at the parents, and before I left again after dinner I headed up to use their scales (I don’t have one). While I’m keeping the magic numbers to myself for a while longer, I can say that I have now lost 5.2 kilos (11.4 lbs) since starting my no/low carb eating habits (which was roughly June 10). Not bad for a little over a month 🙂 Mom’s been saying she can see it for two weeks now, but I’m just now slowly noticing some of it. The pants I’m wearing now, for example, are looser than they were before. Yay!

Dad picked me up this morning. Before we left, he attached the holders for the strawberry planter so I now have a pretty planter on the wall! He also attached a wood peg thing I have, originally designed to hold mugs, to my bedroom wall. I’ve wanted it there for a while now so I can use it to hang my collection of bags on so they’re no longer strewn about the floor. In my house, there’s a place for everything. I’m not very good at always returning things to their particular place, but there is always a designated area or location where it is stored.

I also had Dad move a hook from the hallway to the bedroom to hang my clothes on when I get ready for bed. The chair I used for it is getting in the way so this should eliminate the problem. And since the hook offers less space than the chair did, it’ll force me to look more closely at what I choose to wear on a given day so as not to create a pile of barely-used clothes; too used to put back in the closet and too clean to wash; bigger than the hook can hold.

My house in general could also do with a good re-organise and clean. What with the warm weather of the last two weeks I barely got anything done. I take heat very badly. However, now the weather has turned and since Nienke is working tomorrow I have no-one to distract me. I’m hoping I can get myself to do at least some of the organising/cleaning. Definitely a vacuuming of the house, there’s cat hair and leafy bits everywhere (and sawdust in the bedroom :D).

To get myself in the right set of mind I’m currently re-organising my fonts. I’m a moderate fontaholic, with a collection of just around 1600 or so fonts, but I don’t use most of ’em. Therefore, I’m throwing away a lot of them, and am taking an especially good look to weed those that look too much like others.

And to close on a slightly more gross note: My toe is almost completely healed. Today the piece of old skin that was still attached let go to reveal gloriously pink new skin underneath. Just a few more bits right in the bendy part of the toe still need to let go, but then it’s all good. So, all in all, it’s taken two weeks to heal.

Me Time

Friday, June 27, 2008 by Tse Moana 1 Comment

I have taken some lovely me time for the past week or two and, to repeat myself, it was lovely. I do apologise to various online friends whom I haven’t spoken to in that time. I’ve not forgotten you and I will get back on the talking grid soon, I promise.

I’ve come to a few realisations about various things, one of which I can’t really get into until I’ve posted somewhere else (which I’ll do tomorrow).

I’ve realised that I like the freedom it brings if I’m not glued to the computer for most parts of the day. Before this my usual routine was to get up in the morning, turn on the pc and check e-mail and various small games that I loosely play and then the computer would remain on for the biggest part of the day (if I didn’t have to go anywhere and such) and that would mostly lead to me hanging in front of my screen just browsing about and not really accomplishing anything. I’d have occasional bouts of creative energy in which I would scrapbook or write a bit but 90 percent of my computer time consisted out of mindless surfing around.

No more. I’m taking advantage of the summer to get my computer use back to a more regular level so I can actually use it to work on mostly and play a bit instead of it sucking me in like a black hole.

I’ve also realised that just plainly turning the thing off is very relaxing so I’ll be doing that a bit more as well.

Another thing is photography. I’ve been creative in many ways (writing, painting, graphics work) for a long time and photography has always been a particular pleasure of mine. Since I got a new camera in May, which is much better in quality and options than my previous one, I have started taking more and more photos and some really good ones as well. So I want to take advantage of the summer with its long days and sunny weather (I hope) to really get some photography done and see if I can expand that, even if only remotely, from snapshots, good photos and the odd great one to good photos and more great ones. 🙂

This was my reasoning behind turning my main website into a photo blog and opening this one for the odd blog post. I’m not most regular of bloggers anyway 🙂 Now, as for the photography, I have a few ideas for shoots and series I want to do in the next few weeks of which I’ll be posting some or maybe all of them on the site. So if you’re curious, by all means, drop by.

Yet another thing is that I realised I’ve really missed writing. I love writing, creating stories, worlds, people and I haven’t done it all that often lately and it’s getting to me. So I’m actively getting back in touch with my inner storyteller. And on that note I’m calling it a day and signing off here to go to bed.

Oh and finally, I want to try and pay some more attention to my health and body. I could do with some weight loss so that’s a thing I definitely want to incorporate in my daily existence. I’ve been going swimming regularly the past few months and I really like it. I’m not much of a sports person but some more exercise won’t hurt so I plan to ride my bicycle some more and maybe even walk a bit (I seriously dislike walking, mostly related to the fact that I’m not very good at it)
