Weekly Four: week 39

Monday, October 4, 2010 by Tse Moana Leave a Comment

I’m grateful for mothers, they are very good at tending the sick πŸ™‚

I’m happy the weather was halfway decent this week.

I’m annoyed the flu takes so long to fully go away.

I learned being sick does make for a lot of Warcraft time. Got a good number of achievements in.

Weekly Four: week 35

Monday, September 6, 2010 by Tse Moana Leave a Comment

I’m grateful for the warm winter socks my mom knitted for me.

I’m happy I finally managed to get the final point from 399 to 400 in leveling my unarmed weapon skill in WoW. It took ages!

I was annoyed/in a bad mood earlier this week, but that was more a result of general tiredness and a headache.

I learned good friends make for great conversations. And colleagues can do too. Had a very interesting chat at work this week about FTM transgender people’s transition proces, and ‘how it works’, and a follow-up chat about, among other things, gender with aforementioned friends.

Organise, Organise, Organise

Sunday, July 18, 2010 by Tse Moana 4 Comments

Spent the day at the parents, and before I left again after dinner I headed up to use their scales (I don’t have one). While I’m keeping the magic numbers to myself for a while longer, I can say that I have now lost 5.2 kilos (11.4 lbs) since starting my no/low carb eating habits (which was roughly June 10). Not bad for a little over a month πŸ™‚ Mom’s been saying she can see it for two weeks now, but I’m just now slowly noticing some of it. The pants I’m wearing now, for example, are looser than they were before. Yay!

Dad picked me up this morning. Before we left, he attached the holders for the strawberry planter so I now have a pretty planter on the wall! He also attached a wood peg thing I have, originally designed to hold mugs, to my bedroom wall. I’ve wanted it there for a while now so I can use it to hang my collection of bags on so they’re no longer strewn about the floor. In my house, there’s a place for everything. I’m not very good at always returning things to their particular place, but there is always a designated area or location where it is stored.

I also had Dad move a hook from the hallway to the bedroom to hang my clothes on when I get ready for bed. The chair I used for it is getting in the way so this should eliminate the problem. And since the hook offers less space than the chair did, it’ll force me to look more closely at what I choose to wear on a given day so as not to create a pile of barely-used clothes; too used to put back in the closet and too clean to wash; bigger than the hook can hold.

My house in general could also do with a good re-organise and clean. What with the warm weather of the last two weeks I barely got anything done. I take heat very badly. However, now the weather has turned and since Nienke is working tomorrow I have no-one to distract me. I’m hoping I can get myself to do at least some of the organising/cleaning. Definitely a vacuuming of the house, there’s cat hair and leafy bits everywhere (and sawdust in the bedroom :D).

To get myself in the right set of mind I’m currently re-organising my fonts. I’m a moderate fontaholic, with a collection of just around 1600 or so fonts, but I don’t use most of ’em. Therefore, I’m throwing away a lot of them, and am taking an especially good look to weed those that look too much like others.

And to close on a slightly more gross note: My toe is almost completely healed. Today the piece of old skin that was still attached let go to reveal gloriously pink new skin underneath. Just a few more bits right in the bendy part of the toe still need to let go, but then it’s all good. So, all in all, it’s taken two weeks to heal.

I Dreamed a Dream.. Well, Several Really

Saturday, March 20, 2010 by Tse Moana 3 Comments

I found a pile of papers the other day while I was clearing out the computer desk in preparation of taking it apart next week. The papers turned out to be descriptions of dreams. I’ve had the habit of writing down my dreams if I remember them, but didn’t know it went that far back. I figured I share some of the more amusing ones. I tend to incorporate geek and popular culture in my dreams…

Here’s a recent one, from January 20th this year:

I was on a cruise ship with Emily from Gilmore girls who was my grandmother. We met a charming older man who was flirting with her and sweet talking her and such. But she saw through him, she knew he had taken her key and just wanted to steal her things from her cabin. So she went away to warn the authorities. I didn’t know this.

A while later I was going back to our cabin and when I got in, there he was, stuffing his pockets with grandma’s jewels. I confronted him and just like that he pulled out one of those lady guns and shot me. Hit me square in the chest! But I guess the gun didn’t have a lot of power or something cause it left a good hole but I didn’t fall over or anything. I just stood there going from wound to guy and back going “You shot me!” (Γ  la Dr. McKay in Stargate Atlantis). The thief took advantage of the confusion and ran past me and away.

I decided chasing him was not my priority so I went looking for the doctor’s post. I ran/walked around the ship for half an hour trying to find it without much luck. I came to the restaurant and seating areas and whatnot more but no doctor. Until, eventually I came to this crossing. I twirled around, looking where to go and sort of desperately, (cause it was really starting to hurt now) called out: “Where’s the damn medic!”

Upon which, behind me, someone said: “here.” πŸ˜€
So I turned and indeed there it was, yay! So I went in and they chastised me for not just asking a steward or something but running around and making scenes and stuff (which I hadn’t done… not really anyway…).
I got angry and stood in front of them going: “Yeah well, I got shot!” pointing at my shirt. They went all stammering and wide eyed πŸ˜€ And then my alarm wouldn’t shut up anymore πŸ™

Here’s another one. I didn’t write this down until 2001, 2002 or so, but dreamed it a few years prior. It’s just been one I’ve always remembered.

I was out walking Tessa (the family dog) together with my mom. It was late at night and it was drizzling slightly. Suddenly, we heard a loud noise, like a huge animal. Then we saw a huge pink-and-yellow dragon (built like a T-Rex) moving about scaring people. We ran into a house that had long high hallways and high narrow windows. Kinda like an old mansion type. We ran through these hallways for a while before emerging outside again. Mom and Tessa then went back home while I went out to look for the dragon.

I soon found it and somehow managed to get onto its foot as it slowly but deliberately moved through the streets. There, I was shocked to discover seams. A bit of prodding opened a small hatch revealing electronics inside the dragon, it was fake. I fiddled with the wires and some buttons and managed to shut the dragon down.

This whole dream was rather elaborate but more of the details have been lost over time.

Later more πŸ˜€

Family Portrait

Friday, August 1, 2008 by Tse Moana 1 Comment

Since the last one we shot was about three years ago, I decided a new one should be done so I dragged mom, dog and dad out into the yard, set up the timer and ran for it πŸ™‚

Also in honour of Mother’s Day, my mother πŸ™‚ Edited to age and wrinkle the photo and used one of the frames in my scrapbook supply collection made by Roberta D’Achille.
