After we’d gone to the museum and were on the way back to the train station, we came across a huge beetle on a wall. It remained so perfectly still I could take this picture of it. I’ve spent some time trying to identify it and have eventually come to the conclusion that it is a female Common European Cockchafer, also called May Bug (Meikever in Dutch). It appears to be missing its antenna so I don’t know if it’s actually alive, but as it was against a wall I kinda doubt it’s dead.
